Surviving COVID: A Family Drifted Apart

A few days before Thanksgiving, my brother-in-law told us he had tested positive for COVID. His family had seen him go through the pain and agony of the virus. A week after, the whole family started experiencing the first symptoms of the sickness. Fever, aches, muscle cramming, shivers, throat sore, and shortness of breath among other effects of COVID-19. Within seven days, our parents were hospitalized. It has been 14 days since the first symptoms started and it seems like an eternity. We are living in pain, we can’t breathe, we are cold, we are trying to outstand the uncertainty of our parents' health. We are experiencing a new illness that came to be born in our time and humankind will remember this as a historical moment in 100 years yet to come.
